Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who
took part and everyone who helped out during the first annual
Great Ride/Redbone Poker Run held May 20 to help "Catch
the Cure" for cystic fibrosis.
We had more than 200 bikers participating in the event at Caloosa
Cove, and in just one day, raised more than $1,000 to help fight
this deadly disease.
I would especially like to thank Townsite and Publix Supermarkets
for helping out with donations, as well as Tina at the Safari
Lounge at Caloosa Cove, Laura at the Last Chance Saloon in Florida
City, Phyllis at Alabama Jacks on Card Sound Road, Ahmed
at the Paradise Pub and Marie at the Caribbean Club in Key Largo,
Gary Dunn at the Ocean View Lounge in Islamorada, Stephanie
at the Wreck Bar on Grassy Key, Gary at Garys Sports Bar
in Marathon and Joe at Coconuts on Big Pine Key for their assistance.
Thanks also to Jack Pinder of Pig Out BBQ for cooking the food
for us, and Tom and Gary of the Bilge Brothers for providing
the entertainment.
And last but certainly not least, I want to thank Gary and
Susan Ellis and all the folks at the Redbone Gallery who believed
in this idea and made it all possible.
There may well be some names Ive forgotten to mention.
If yours is among them, rest assured my thanks go to you, too,
for helping out.
This years event was a learning experience for us, and
we were thrilled with the turnout. I promise that next years
event will be even better.
